UNDERWATER MODULE

MERCURE brings sensing and energy below the surface.

MERCURE combines marine-current energy harvesting with modular environmental sensing. It is designed to process underwater measurements locally and forward them to AKATA.

MERCURE

Module capabilities

01

Energy from marine currents

A double-helix turbine concept converts current energy into electricity to support sensors and control electronics, with battery storage in the system architecture.

02

Environmental sensor packages

Configurable measurements include temperature, pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, pressure and current, according to the selected sensor package.

03

Local processing

An underwater controller processes sensor readings before forwarding them to AKATA for onward delivery.

How it works

Current energy supports the measurement cycle.

01

Harvest

The turbine is designed to convert marine-current energy into electricity.

02

Store

Battery storage supports power delivery to sensors and control electronics.

03

Sense

The selected sensor package measures local underwater conditions.

04

Forward

Locally processed readings pass to AKATA for communications with shore or the cloud.

Energy output, sensor performance and maintenance needs require prototype and field validation. Corrosion resistance and reduced biofouling are design objectives.
